A friend of mine,
Gordon Jenkins, is getting ready to start his
Appalachian Trail thru-hike in a few days (March 17). His trip will be an endeavor to benefit
Celiac Disease Research. Celiac disease is an auto-immune disease that causes an intolerance of gluten (a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye), hence Gordon's trail name --
The Breadless Horseman. He will be trying to update his blog every few weeks or so, whenver he has a chance, so be sure to check his blog every so often. Watching him gear up for his hike made me very jealous of the opportunity he has. I haven't been on a backpacking trip since last winter (the Smokies in November, incedently, are beautiful!). Good luck, Gordon!
P.S. -
Here is an article about Gordon and his hike.
