Is Beauty Contextual?
If one of the world's best classical musicians played some of the most beautiful music ever composed on one of the finest violins ever crafted at a Washington D.C. subway stop, would anyone hear him?
Pearls Before Breakfast.
How much beauty do we miss on a daily basis?
How many works of God are we too busy to enjoy?

What Kind of Anarchist Am I?
You scored as Christian Anarchist.
Christian anarchism is one of the oldest anarchist philosophies, arguably dating back to the early Christian church. Christian anarchists emphasise non-violence and oppose the state as God is the only legitimate source of authority. Key thinkers include the Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy.

The Breadless Horseman Rides
A friend of mine, Gordon Jenkins, is getting ready to start his Appalachian Trail thru-hike in a few days (March 17). His trip will be an endeavor to benefit Celiac Disease Research. Celiac disease is an auto-immune disease that causes an intolerance of gluten (a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye), hence Gordon's trail name -- The Breadless Horseman. He will be trying to update his blog every few weeks or so, whenver he has a chance, so be sure to check his blog every so often. Watching him gear up for his hike made me very jealous of the opportunity he has. I haven't been on a backpacking trip since last winter (the Smokies in November, incedently, are beautiful!). Good luck, Gordon!
P.S. - Here is an article about Gordon and his hike.

I'm Not Dead Yet
Just in case you were wondering. I haven't updated in a year. But I'm still alive. Tired, but alive. A lot has happened since I last posted, most notably the birth of my son! He was born on October 16, and he is beautiful. I am now Daddy Metafiz. I will hopefully start posting something again soon.

Time is Ticking Away
According to the Death Clock, my deathday is Thursday, March 31 2050. As of the day and time of writing this, I have 1,388,881,867 seconds left.
Despite the fact that this is nothing but a silly computer program, I find this kind of freaky and somewhat disturbing.
